I feel like I have to start this with a bit of a disclaimer, foreword or at least a fair warning about some of the terms I’ll be using here. Living in Dublin, I’ve picked up some colloquialism that I now cannot do without. However, after vising NYC recently, I understood, through confused expressions in response to these terms, that they really should be explained first! For example, if something is described as “deadly,” “gas,” or “craic,” please be clear that this denotes something fantastic, awesome or fun. So, “That’s gas craic altogether” means something is absolutely fantastic, that you should totally check out. Now, having said that, please let me give you a rundown on some of the deadly, craic to be had in my city of Dublin. With love, Lorcan.

  1. SOUTH WILLIAM STREET This is kind of the hipster capital of Dublin. it’s one of those streets that the cool kids go to, to get food, drink and people-watch. Housing many great restaurants, bars and what equates to a conveyer belt of guys with beards. Hours can be spend sitting outside here whispering “ride” (meaning: he’s ferociously good looking isn’t he!?) to friends.
  2. BROWN THOMAS Arguably the most opulent show in town, some pros might steer clear for fear of breaking the bank with a single purchase. Thruth-be-told, there is no better curated selection of makeup must-haves under one roof to be found in Dublin. From Shu Uemura, NARS, and MAC to YSL, Charlotte Tilbury and Tom Ford Beauty, Brown Thomas is worth checking out if you’re shopping for the biggest and most prestigious brands for your kit.
  3. MAKE UP FOR EVER Years ago, I bought my first products here, Aqua Black.  Now when I’m stocking up, I always turn to the MAKE UP FOR EVER shop on Clarendon Street. The staff there are at the top of their game and always know what to offer in terms of products and advice to both newbies and pros alike.>> For more of Lorcan’s recommendation pick up a copy of the Fall 2014 issue
