How did you get involved with Pose?
My friend and colleague, Eryn Krueger Mekash, is Ryan Murphy’s makeup designer for all of his shows and movies. I have done several projects with Eryn for Ryan and she
referred me to design and run Pose. The makeup is fantastic.

Salor Where did you find inspiration when designing the makeup?
My key and right hand person, Nicky Pattison Illum, and I did a lot of research before starting this project. The inspiration came from books about the ballroom culture, magazines from the ‘80s, ‘80s music videos, icons such as Whitney Houston, Jodi Watley, Janet Jackson, Christie Brinkley, Linda Evangelista and Grace Jones. We were inspired by TV shows such as Dynasty, artists like Leigh Bowery, and last but not least, and of course super obvious, the film, Paris is Burning. The costume designer extraordinaire, Lou Eyrich, and the fabulous hair designer, Chris Clark, and I would all get together with our look boards for each character and >> Pickup the Fall 2018 issue here for the full interview
